About

IMG_0547        Hi, my name is Olga Ivanidi.

I’ve been writing for kids since I   was a  child myself. I “published” my first book at 6 by simply stapling sheets of paper where I wrote a story and drew scribbles. I gave copies of it to a few neighbors and said that in several years I would  bring them a “real” book.

Since then I’ve been passionate about writing. I am proud to be an active member of SCBWI(Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators). This organization helped me to learn more about the craft through conferences and support of writers’ cohort I’ve become a part of.  I am tremendously happy I took courses on Writing for Children at StoryStudio Chicago under a mentorship of Juliet Bond. And, of course, volunteering as a writing coach at Open Books Chicago is a great opportunity for me to spend time with my potential readers.

Now I’m facing all joys of writer’s life: revisions, submissions, praying for a good luck;)

I decided to launch this blog to share information about an amazing world of children’s literature with fellow writers and to inspire someone to start that first page.

Please, feel free to repost or comment any part of this blog.

  1. Hi Olga, nice to meet you. A million years ago in another lifetime I used to be a librarian, and children’s literature and helping children was my favourite part of the job. I read a lot of children’s books in those days.
Thanks for following our blog. I hope you enjoy the stories of our journey, both inner and outer. Cheers, Alison

    • Hi, Alison! Pleasure to meet you as well! Besides writing for children, I want to break into travel journalism soon. I really enjoyed reading your blog. It inspired me to travel to Bolivia:)
